Update extra column

Endpoint: PUT /datasets/{dataset_id}/extra-columns/{column_id}

Description

Renames an extra column's label on a custom dataset. The column id and type are unchanged; existing per-record values are preserved. Labels follow the same uniqueness rules as Create extra column.

Sharing rules

Custom datasets only. You must own the dataset or belong to the dataset's organization when it is org-shared.

Parameters

  • Path: dataset_id — integer; column_id — string matching col_[0-9a-f]{8} (otherwise 422).

  • label — required string (1–64 characters, trimmed, non-empty).

Error responses

  • 401 — Authentication failed.
  • 400 — Not a custom dataset; duplicate label (same rules as create).
  • 403 — Permission denied (same as create).
  • 404 — Dataset not found; or Extra column '{column_id}' not found.
  • 422 — Invalid column_id path format; empty or whitespace label.
  • 500 — An error occurred while updating the extra column.

Responses

  • 200 — Updated column definition ({ id, label, type }).
